M.A. Modern China Studies - Application and Admission
Minimum admission requirements
- Bachelor's degree with an overall grade of 2,5 or above according to the German system (https://www.tum.de/en/studies/application/grade-conversion-formula-for-grades-earned-outside-germany/ ) and at least 50% coursework in a social sciences or humanities field.
- Knowledge of English equivalent to the European C1 framework (e.g. TOEFL iBT 100, IELTS Band 7.0) and Chinese equivalent to European B2 framework (e.g. HSK 4). Applications without these minimum language requirements will not be considered. Knowledge of German is not required.
Chinese nationals must submit a valid APS-Zertifikat if their studies were completed at a Chinese university.

The next application deadlines are April 15, 2024** (non-EU citizens) and July 15, 2024 (EU-citizens). The online application system will open approximately on March 1, 2024. No paper or emailed applications will be accepted.
**all required paperwork, including APS certificate and language certificates, must WITHOUT EXCEPTION be submitted by the immatriculation/enrollment deadline in October. You will not be able to enroll if these are not provided.**

Please note that the copy of each transcript and diploma/degree must be certified by an official notary or university.
